PreS-Gr 1-Inspiring internet sensation Curry is back with another engaging and relatable story. Parker and her family are preparing to visit Papi and Nana, who live in Portugal. The family members pack their bags and head to the airport. After boarding and takeoff, they snack, enjoy the view of the clouds, and rest on the plane. They soon land at their destination, where Papi and Nana are waiting. Subsequent pages chronicle the joyful trip filled with outings to town, exploring the beach, boat rides, trying new treats, and even a visit to a castle in nearby Spain. As they reach the end of the trip, the family promises to visit again soon. Sentences range from three to 16 words, with two to four sentences per spread. The text features significant use of sight words along with vocabulary-building language. Charming illustrations are cartoonlike and depict Parker and her family thoroughly enjoying both their trip and each other's company. Back matter includes ideas and inspiration for readers to create adventure journals. VERDICT Another excellent addition to a winning series, recommended for early reader collections.-Olivia Gorecke

Grades K-2 Parker is so ecstatic when her mom announces they will visit her grandparents in Portugal. Parker's family packs, take a plane ride, and are delighted when they are swept up in the loving arms of Nana and Papi. Parker writes about the various activities the family does together as they spend time in the garden, swim in crystal-blue waters, eat new sweets, and even take a special journey on a boat to visit a castle in Spain. From cobblestone streets to stunning coastal views, the pictures wonderfully capture Portugal's unique beauty. For early readers, the text is accessible, with short sentences, clear vocabulary, and a gentle pace. At the end of the book, readers can discover what an adventure journal is, how to write one, and what questions to answer as they write their own. This charming story about family, exploration, and the joy of discovering new places is a perfect pick for young readers ready to embark on an international adventure.
