Rahim is a suburban kid like any other, a "good kid." Chilling with his boys, hearing the legends of "Immortal Al," the greatest gangster who ever lived, it's hard not to get stars in his eyes. Rahim starts dreaming of becoming a kingpin, idolizing his local gangsters in the hopes of climbing their ranks. But his friends laugh: they say he's all talk, no action. Until one day, he sees an opportunity to prove himself... but how far will he take it before there's no turning back?

A modern, urban graphic novel exploring the toxic nature of "street cred" and the role it plays in the lives of vulnerable young men.

In their creative, gritty, and somewhat shocking graphic novel, Szytybor and Akuessel present a compelling story about the influence and impact of gang life on young men in a manner that will undoubtedly be controversial to some readers. In All Talk readers follow the main character Rahim, a young fatherless black teenage boy with a plan that he is sure will allow him to climb the ranks of his gang quickly and gain significant street cred. Although the plan is a dangerous one that puts himself and two of his close friends at risk, Rahim has no fear, as he is determined to become a legend of gang war by assassinating a rival gang leader. But Rahim's best-laid plans go awfully astray in a manner saddening, surprising, and somewhat surreal. Overall, All Talk's interesting characters, unique art style, and absorbing representation of the complex issue of youth gang involvement will appeal to some readers. However, it is important to note that this graphic novel may be met with some controversy because it features character designs that are somewhat reminiscent of racist caricatures and some stereotypical tropes about Black people. With hot-button content, various mature themes, and representations of sexuality and violence this graphic novel won't be for everyone.
