Just how pure are we? • I’ve said before that scootering (that’s both Scootering magazine and the culture) is a very broad church that encompasses so many subcultures. But it can also be reflective of both the good and bad sides of modern life.

The changing face of scooter design • Scooters have been evolving for more than 75 years, and there’s no sign of that process slowing.

Pointing in the wrong direction • Experienced riders know that when a scooter breaks down it’s usually something simple, but that’s often a lesson learned the hard way.

The water of life • In his second book Whiskey Burn, Ben Birdsall takes his Vespa 50 on a tour of Irish distilleries, following his tour of Scottish whisky sites. There are worse ways to earn a living...

Eighteen Alpine passes in five days • As Ralf reports, last year’s SIP road trip to the Dolomites reached new highs

National Treasure • The BSRA committee is one of those organisations most have heard of, but few know much about. Stan caught up with its chair, Tony Bryant, to see what the future holds for the Nationals.

A cracking ride to Corsica • Many years ago, Caroline and Neil roughed out a trip to Corsica, but for one reason or another it never happened. Determined to see the sights of this sunny island they finally took the plunge and as Caroline reports, she’s so glad that they did.

CONFIDENTIAL INFLUENCES • Being a teenage Jam fan set Dean Goddard on his road to getting a scooter; but for years he concealed his true musical tastes

Vespa T5 • Introduced in the mid-1980s, the Vespa T5 was a scooter with performance and looks like no other.

Vespa T5 That was then... • When the T5 was introduced to the UK in 1986 everyone ‘in the trade’ knew it was a game changer. What the public needed was proof and, as Gareth Brown recalls, the Scootering team were willing to oblige.

Vespa T5 This is now • Our project T5 was bought as a distraction from Covid lockdown but, as Stan recalls, it was far from an easy ride…

Travelling Man An interview with Peter Moore • He’s the author of Vroom With a View and Vroom by the Sea, two of the best books ever written about travelling by scooter. Having ‘met’ his Vespas, Caroline finally got chance to catch up with the man himself.

MAILBOX • Letters&emails&correspondence&questions&personals&thank-yous&comments&more Feedback, Scootering...
